    The only time I've known Flag Day to be celebrated was in 1958 at the elementary school I attended in Manhattan. I had just completed first grade. There was a procession just before lunch time, with lots of the older kids parading around the American flag and then flags of all the nations. It was the last day of school, a Friday, and the 14th actually fell on the next day, Saturday.

    My grandmother lived in Hell's Kitchen (47th. St. between 8th and 9th Ave) from 1974 up until her death in 2004). It was a rent stabilized 3 bedroom apartment and the rent was $470 a month. I'm guessing they’re renting it now for $5K a month?

    IN THE 1890’S PIANOS WERE ALWAYS SLIGHTLY OUT OF TUNE, RIGHT ?

    • @videoviewmaker
      @videoviewmaker 29 дней назад

      Thank you for your musical comment. My piano score for this video was purposefully played in a style reminiscent of that time period. Back then pianos did not always stay well-tuned, resulting in the off-key sound you noted. You can hear the original piano version at this Videoviewmaker’s “Music Compilation Transcriptions” RUclips link: ruclips.net/video/-6U984e1VUk/видео.htmlsi=5WvLxMbVS4eEYiYD

      @@videoviewmaker pianos of today do not always stay well tuned either and compared to present times, piano owners of that era in general were likely in a position to have their instruments adjusted on a regular basis. The idea that ‘in olden days’ instruments were a bit out of tune is probably more psychological as old stuff exhibit tear and wear just like old film snippets and when thinking of pianos from the 1890’s people tend to think of old pianos that have now become irreparably malfunctioning. Also Wild West movies have installed a certain idea of ‘barrel house’ sound in the minds of the public as a reference point that has now become omnipresent in everything ‘backinthedays’ from commercials to documentaries or restored film footage (on par with the choice of sepia Color when digitally colorising from scratch as we all know that yesterworld was all sepia ;-) )

    Enjoyed seeing this,but living conditions weren't that great for average people. Dentistry and hospital stays were last options for many. You still had horses and what they brought with them in the streets. Like working 12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week, a lot of labor for a simple shirt or socks, maybe an outhouse outside your tenement or a chamber pot in your room? Every apartment didn't have a bathroom, tubs were often in the kitchen, lack of privacy at home, not just for a bath. Would like to hover over multiple families to see lifestyles per income, but not live at the time although not rushed.

    There's no way these horse & carriage mamalukes built all those fancy perfect buildings made out of huge pieces of stone in the 1800s. Another civilization built them and all the adults you see in these photos are the kids from the orphan trains that have no idea where they came from

      The 1800s weren't the Pleistocene and people weren't living in caves. They had LOTS of heavy machinery like cranes, excavators, lifts, even drills. They didn't have computers and diesel engines but they DID have steam power! "I don't believe it" doesn't count as evidence. Where are the artifacts of this "other civilization"? Why isn't there a *single* photo, drawing, book, journal, newspaper, etc etc etc. of someone "finding" a great skyscraper buried in 50 meters of supposed mud? Pull your head outta the conspiracy rabbit hole. All you'll find at the bottom is a pile of black bunny-jellybeans.

    Небоскребы и маленькие люди с лошадками очен весело и нелепо смотрятся. Так кто же строил эти высокие дома? Какая цивилизация оставила нам такие здания? Почему врут историки? Также и античные здания стоят по всему миру. Была единая древняя цивилизация и не так давно. Многие здания засыпаны, мы видим цокольные этажи.

    • @Poisson4147
      @Poisson4147 6 месяцев назад

      Ты не можешь быть серьёзным. Люди ездили на лошадях, потому что автомобилей еще не изобрели. Но строительная техника с приводом от ПАРА была очень распространена, включая тракторы и гигантские краны. Существуют библиотеки фотографий и схем, показывающие, как строились большие здания. Также здания не «засыпаны». Они имеют глубокий фундамент глубиной 20-30 метров, соединяющий их с коренной породой. Ничто не требует магии Гарри Поттера.

      XIX век не был Юрской эрой. Строители использовали стальные и железные балки и использовали тяжелую строительную технику, приводящую в движение пар. У них не было компьютеров, но гражданское строительство было весьма развито. Есть МНОГО книг и фотографий, показывающих, как строились большие здания.
